Day Four

Today was the longest day! The "scenic route" through the state of Wisconsin was long, tedious and nothing scenic once you have seen the first 10 miles of the forest, you have seen it all. We felt better when we got to the Continental Divide. To break up the monotony, (and please forgive any typing errors, as it''s now very tired time) we had a little race, a little water fight, and a few laughs. We did, however, stop along the bottom of Lake Superior before reaching the forbidden forest. One of us was brave enough to shed most of their clothes and jump in...Guess who! The rest of us got our toes or fingers wet. Another stop along the way proved to be a beautiful overlook of Lake Superior, and a friendly travelor took our photo there. That lake goes on forever!

We than decided to find a place to stay. Camp grounds are few and far between here. After many more hours, we found a campground where we checked in at the Casino. They tried hard to get us to gamble, but it didn't work. A shuttle bus came through the campground every 15 minutes. At first it was funny, but then once lights were out it was not good for me. My tent was next to the roadway and the lights from the shuttle lit up my tent like Las Vegas.

We did get a great deal on the site, $5 each for the night. So we dined on steak tips, garlic mashed potatoes, roasted peas in the pod, and chocolate chip cookies for dessert. A couple of cocktails before dinner, and a few after dinner drinks and we were in bed early tonight.

In the morning one of the guys mistook the ladies shower room for the guys, and enjoyed a nice hot shower with no beatings...I mean interruptions. I took a shower the night before and it wasn't as nice as Copper Harbor at the Wilkins state park. Only a curtain seperated the shower stalls, and the door was chained open so anyone could walk in. A little odd, but most of the campers I don't think ever left the casino so we really were the only ones there!

  1. Hmmm...which one of the guys was that? Oh and you have to ask Rob about when he "accidentally" used the women's bathroom at the racetrack! Glad you're having fun! Enjoying your pictures and stories!
